Community Forest Management
SATIIM has launched a sustainable forest management project in the comunities of Conejo and Santa Teresa.  The first phase of the project, the forest inventory has been completed and the management plan for both commmunities is under development.  These communities are among the few that contains forest that is still intact.  This project aims to support the communities in developing a management plan for the forest and at the same time derive tangible economic benefits from the forest.  The communities of Conejo and Santa Teresa  will be the first communities to become the managers of the forest that surrounds them, this type of forest management has not been done at the community level before.  SATIIM hopes to replicate this project to other communities who have already expressed interests in managing their forest resource.
